Graveside rites will be conducted at Oak Hill Cemetery at 1 p.m. Saturday for Benjamin C. Evans, 75, a Crawfordsville native, who died in his home at Los Angeles Friday. The Rev. Frank Little will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church here. Mr. Evans had been a business partner in Evans, DeVore & Co., Mortgage Bankers; a farmer and a Realtor. He had been a president and lieutenant governor of Kiwanis International and had received the Legion of Honor Award. He was a trustee of the First United Methodist Church of Crawfordsville and a member of the Northwest Indiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He has been president of the Crawfordsville Country Club and was the first president of the Northwest Indiana Home for the Aged at Frankfort. In 1957 he moved to Los Angeles where he was a Realtor until his retirement in 1970, He had served as president of the Brentwood Association of Greater Los Angeles. Mr. Evans was a graduate of Wabash College where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He was a World War I veteran. Born Feb. 16, 1898, he was a son of Frank C. and Etta Crabbs Evans. He was married to Ruth Fraley who died in 1955. In 1957 he was married to Beatrice McMahan who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Daniel F. of Indianapolis and Benjamin C. Jr., of Washington, D.C.; a stepson, James A. McMahan of Los Angeles, and five grandchildren. – jlr
